Celebrity houses in Turks & Caicos!
Here are a few more aerial images from the recent aerial photo shoot we did. It includes a very well known movie star's beach home and our offices!
Kelly and Dion's Engagement at The Somerset, TCI
We recently had the pleasure of meeting Kelly and Dion who are planning their wedding at The Somerset next year. We had a wonderful meeting with them, found out a little more about the plans they have for the wedding (really fun!) and about them as a couple too. We then arranged to meet later that day to do a few quick "engagement" pictures.
5am on a Sunday morning??
Most pictures we shoot and see of the Turks & Caicos Islands are taken at 11am or mid afternoon and show the typical bright blue water and white sandy beaches. Recently we did some photography at sunrise.....wow!!!

We have to admit it, but we have had some fairly bad weather over the last month or so. The lack of blue skies has been quite frustrating. We have been suffering from day upon day of grey cloudy weather as a big (Caribbean wide) tropical system sat right on top of Cuba.Whilst we can reschedule a lot of our work, with weddings you just cannot. We feel terrible for brides and grooms when this happens. It is rare (perhaps 5 weddings in the last 10 years) have had to be moved indoors because of persistent rain - this was the case for Lori and Lance. However, that wasn't what made this wedding so special.

As we did last year we are delighted to post a few quick images from the this year's Turks & Caicos Hotel Association book. This book goes into every hotel room in the TCI and we are very proud to help the TCHA team and especially Kathy and Clare in helping to puut this together for them.

Last Saturday morning I had the pleasure of shooting a portrait session with Kirbymae Been - to help celebrate her birthday!
As it was a morning session and the day was beginning to warm up, we started in the shade in the gardens at Royal West Indies Resort , and finished up on the beach for a few pictures.
Mary & Mathew Swanson
On October 4th Kellie and I had the opportunity to photograph Mary and Mathew's wedding just a few feet away from a very calm ocean. It was just the two of them, simple, beautiful and completely stress free. Weather wasn't great that afternoon but everything worked out perfectly and we had an amazing contrast between the blue water and a dramatic cloudy sky.
Gospel Fest 2007
On Sunday October 8th 2007 the very first Gospel Fest was held right here in the Turks and Caicos and it was amazing.

On September 29th Anita and I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Amy and Jeremy. The ceremony took place on beautiful Grace Bay beach at The Regent Palms and the reception was held at the lower pool deck.
Tropical Imaging on Gene Simmons Family Jewels!
Several weeks ago we received a call from the producers of the Gene Simmons show asking if we would help with the TV show. I have to say that I was a little wary - some reality TV shows can make the "extra" participants look bad whilst the stars look good......however after meeting with Adam and Adam and the rest of the production team I was sure they were on the level. We discussed some locations, lighting and how we might shoot it all and meet their production schedule.
Make my private jet look sexy!!
We seem to be having a bit of an aviation month this month. After the helicopter shoot a couple of weeks ago, the Aircentre on Provo that caters for the many private jets that come to Turks & Caicos approached Tropical Imaging to help them produce some new imagery to update brochures, websites and so on.
The happiest toddler in Turks & Caicos?
We recently had Tremiko, Dena and Tremiko Jnr ask us to help with a small family photo shoot before they all move to the USA where Tremiko is going to college. Always happy to help as we love to capture these special moments. Kids seem to change almost on a daily basis and it's all too easy to assume you'll remember - after all we all have a photographic memory don't we!! Even I wasn't prepared for Tremiko Jnr - the perfect toddler!!

The title of their wedding web-site says: "Hotdog and Bridezilla are Getting Married!".
If that's the truth, I think Mike is the cutest Hotdog I have seen (I'm sure the bride agrees) and Maureen would make the TV shows shut down - she was simply wonderful!
Tracy and Darin
I haven't posted an article on the blog page in a while (who ever said that September is the beginning of the slow season?!?), but I'm now more than happy to share few pictures of Tracy and Darin's wedding.The beautiful couple got married on September 8th, at The Regent Palms. Family and friends flew to the Turks and Caicos from over the world to attend their wedding (from New Zealand to Minnesota) - the time spent in the plane was rewarded by the fabulous event and the stunning surroundings.
Family Fun in Turks & Caicos
We have been very fortunate to have helped the Parnell Family with many photo shoots in recent months as their family expands and grows. So it was wonderful to have another opportunity this labour day weekend. Whilst Turks & Caicos does have some gorgeous locations, with three kids and a hot, humid and sunny afternoon we all decided to keep it close to home and actually shoot everything at the house. Mom just wanted some cute pictures of the whole gang as they just seem to keep changing with everyday. Thirty minutes later we had what we wanted.

Mario Lopez At Point Grace
On August 6th I had the opportunity to take some publicity photos for Mario Lopez at Point Grace. Mario and Karina arrived Monday afternoon and flashed us a few smiles later that day.

Not all our weddings are 50, 60, 70 or even 150 people, with multiple coordinators and days of coverage. We often have as much fun with just two people as we do with two hundred! This past weekend I had the pleasure, along with Anita, to help Erin and Trey with their intimate family wedding - 19 people including them - lovely.

The Turks & Caicos Islands are growing up. They are getting quite sophisticated these days and a whole range of services and companies are popping up that even a few years ago would have not been thought of. To imagine 12 years ago when we first arrived in Turks & Caicos; you had to get to the main supermarket on island (it was the size of a "7-11" convenience store!) on a Thursday or Friday or you didn't get milk, eggs or butter for the week as the boat only came in once a week. Flights to Provo - one a day. Now I think its 50 a week!! There were maybe 8 or 9 main resorts......
Anyway back to the story - a new helicopter service is being launched to cater to the island's many developers as well as high-end guests who want the convenience of flying to their resort rather than taking a boat trip. Our task - make a helicopter look sexy!!

Last week I shot a portrait session for John and Beth at Amanyara - well Beth just emailed me to say that she and John were at college with a guy named Jamal - whose engagement shoot with Merili I shot just a couple of weeks ago!

Now and forever - Mr & Mrs Kelly
LaNette and Chris got married last Saturday on the beautiful beach of The Sands resort. The ceremony was very personal and original, with a special touch coming directly from the Puerto Rican tradition.
The dinner and reception was hosted on the beach as well, perfectly organized by Caicos Catering. I'm sure everybody had a blast!

Beth and John - an Amanyara honeymoon
On Friday evening I drove up to Amanyara Resort at North West Point, for a sunset photo session with Beth and John, who live in New York but were married last week in Lexington, Kentucky. They chose Amanyara's Romance at Amanyara package as the perfect honeymoon treat - which includes a Tropical Imaging portrait shoot.

Tuesday evening's portrait shoot was a fun one - a family session and a "couple" session rolled into one! Kenny and Renata and their son Brad made up the family, while Renata's niece Chantelle and her partner Cory were the couple! Anita and I shared photo duties...
Genevieve and Alain
Combine the sweetest bride, a gorgeous groom, turquoise flowing dresses, cream suits, beautiful calla-lillies, a few lively kids, a colorful sunset, and the stunning setting of The Regent Palms and you get the fabulous wedding of Genevieve and Alain Brutus.
The couple got married last Saturday, August 18th - assisted by the excellent organization of Patrick Dugan (the resort personal wedding planner), the event was a real blast.

June 29th 2007: a memorable date for Marissa and Eric Marsh who exchanged their wedding vows on the beautiful Grace Bay beach.
30 close family members and friends joined the couple to celebrate their love and union.
We had the great opportunity to spend few hours with them and capture this unique event: Marissa and Eric were wonderful and extremely nice... and we call this work?!?
Shari and Scott at Ocean Club
On August 3rd Kellie and I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Scott and Shari at Ocean Club East. The ceremony took place on the beach and the reception was held at Gecko Grille.
It's simply called LOVE
People say: "The first love is never forgotten" - this beautiful sentence is definitely true for Vickie and Don: many years, experiences and people passed by since high school, but when their ways crossed again their love sparkled like the very first day.
The couple united their lives last Tuesday on the beach in front of Le Vele. Only two close friends attended the ceremony, making the whole event really intimate and sweet.
Miss Turks & Caicos Universe 2007
The finals of the Miss Turks & Caicos Universe 2007 contest were held as part of the Turks & Caicos Music & Cultural Festival, with the climax being a beauty pageant on Friday August 3rd on the sound stage at Turtle Cove Marina.
Engagement session with Merili and Jamal
Merili and Jamal visited Turks & Caicos last week to check out a location for their wedding next June - so I took the opportunity to do an "engagement shoot" with them - so that they could see how we work and so that we could get to know them a little better! Unless our wedding photography clients live in Turks & Caicos we don't get too much opportunity to meet with them ahead of the "big day", so it's always nice to do these little photo shoots when we can. It's just twenty or thirty minutes but it's a lot of fun!

In a way, it was a "honeymoon" shoot - except that Betty and Chris are getting married in a week or so from now, back home in New Jersey! So they had their vacation before the wedding, which is a little unusual, but fun! So we got to shoot some relaxed pictures in a great setting...

This week the island's been buzzing with the excitement of the 4th annual Turks & Caicos Music & Cultural Festival - and this year the organizers have excelled themselves with a stellar line-up that included such world-renowned names as Michael Bolton, Kenny Rogers, India.Arie, Alicia Keys, Stanley Roots, John Legend and Air Supply, plus an array of home-grown TCI talent such as Blakout, Correy Forbes, Barbara Johnson, Marvin Handfield, Jack Nasty, Julian Garland and Jervon Laporte with Sounds of Sax.
Love & Kisses in Halfmoon Beach
On July 21st I had the great opportunity to photograph the wedding of Tara and Keith Steinnerd. Bride and groom and the rest of the family got ready at the Sands Resort and after few minutes bus ride to the leeward side of Providenciales they boarded a sail boat ready to sail to the beautiful Halfmoon beach.

What can I say about Patricia and Victor's fabulous wedding at The Regent Palms ?!? It was a beautiful, elegant and fun affair; their guest list included their best friends and immediate family only and not a detail was missing.
On Friday night Kellie and I joined them at the resort's pool deck to capture a few images of the delicious barbecue, the relaxed atmosphere and the crazy party time.

Nancy and David started life with an ocean between them - he in the UK, she in the USA - but met and fell in love while teaching at the same school in the US. And they chose Turks & Caicos as the ideal place to celebrate their marriage with family and friends from both sides of the Atlantic.

It had to be the busiest wedding weekend of the year or even decade - 7/7/07. I know we had more requests than we could handle and from hearing from other photographers all over the world - everyone was busy, busy, busy. It was therefore wonderful to be able to say "YES" to Kisha and Jay and help them with their wedding in Jamaica. Now, going outside of Turks & Caicos isn't something we do often (although we have plans to make this happen more often and are always open to invitations), but Kisha likes to get her way, so it wasn't that surprising to find myself in Montego Bay last Friday about to go River Rafting......with a camera!

Tina and Rory wanted us to cover some of the more relaxing moments of the weekend - which we love to do. So the morning after the wedding we went to the "brunch". These relaxed moments are often great for more candid images.

June and July are busy months for us with weddings - and many of them are quite large affairs with many guests and whole sets of groomsmen and bridesmaids. And those are fun to shoot. But sometimes it's nice to photograph a quiet, private ceremony - which is what happened on Sunday when I took pictures at the wedding of Mary and Bruce at The Regent Palms.

After many wonderful weddings I had the pleasure to capture a beautiful, fun, lovely couple and their boy-to-be. Goli and Josh will give their baby to the light in few months - it was a real honor to catch their love on the tropical beach of their Turks and Caicos during this special, anticipation time.

The Somerset Fashion Show
On June 9th the Somerset Resort hosted the first Fashion Show on island and I had the pleasure to take some pictures to capture the event.
Several models elegantly walked the runway to display casual clothes, swimsuits, evening gowns and the beautiful designer's jewelry by Alicia Shulman.

Family celebrations are a popular reason why families come on vacation together to Turks & Caicos - and last week the Flug family were here, staying at Coral Gardens, to celebrate Sy and Renee's wedding anniversary - over 50 years together! And what better way to record the event than with a family photo shoot on the beach...

Last Saturday Kellie and I had the privilege to capture Leia and Lanny's wedding at The Regent Palms.
Everything was truly special: Leia walked down the aisle on the notes of "Time After Time" perfectly played on the saxophone by Lanny (a surprise for the bride), everybody was wearing beautiful white dresses and shirts, the dinner was delicious - hosted on the resort's terrace and, to add the "last orchid to the cake", the Junkanoo band escorted the newly-weds and their guests to the stunning reception at the Spa.

April, who owns her own Hair Salon on Providenciales, Turks & Caicos wanted some new pictures of her daughter who is now almost 18 months old.
We setup a date and from then on it was just plain fun.
Commercial Photography at The Sands
This past Monday we had the opportunity to do some commercial photography for The Sands resort , recently this hotel has done some renovations in some of the rooms and they needed some new images to show to the unit owners.
Dawn and Jordan's Grace Bay Club wedding
We are so lucky that the fabulous Grace Bay Club is only a 2 minute drive from our studio. With such a wonderful resort on our doorstep, it was great to be able to help Dawn and Jordan this weekend with there intimate, family wedding. Travelling down from New York - an easy three hour direct flight - made it stress free for important friends and family to be in attendance. A big reason why more and more people are coming to the Turks & Caicos!

Simple fun at Grace Bay Club
Last week Melissa, Chris and their son "CJ" contacted us to help them with a simple fun photo shoot on the beach. We had arranged to meet at 6.20pm in the lobby of the Grace Bay Club. By 6.40pm I was starting to get conerned as sunset was fast approaching and we might start to "lose the light". However, before I had a chance to do anything they appeared around the corner carrying "CJ" in Dad's arms. On the way out of the condo he had stubbed his toe.....blood, bandaids and major efforts to get him to stop crying ensued, hence the delayed start. So there sat CJ, tearfully looking at me, daring me to try and make him smile!! Oh boy.....

Tina and Rory's Wedding Part One
About two years ago we did a small family photo shoot for Tina as her parents and aunt and uncle were visiting. To say that Tina loves photos is an understatement and she was thrilled by the results of that shoot and has been in close contact with us ever since. Fast-forward two years and Tina and Rory are planning their wedding, with guests and family from New Zealand, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Sweden and more; so picking the right location was vital. In the end after scanning the globe they decided on "home" and had everyone fly into the Turks & Caicos for a wonderful wedding week. With over four days of events, this post is going to be in three parts covering everything from the sailing regatta, to the wedding day to the final sunset cruise. Here we go!!

An Amanyara honeymoon with Martin and Barbara
On Monday evening I took a drive up to the Amanyara resort at NorthWest Point, for a romantic shoot with Martin and Barbara. The couple were married just ten days ago in Salzburg, Austria, and came to Amanyara for their honeymoon. A sunset photo shoot with Tropical Imaging is included in the resort's "Romance at Amanyara" package.

How relaxing and fun it can be to be going around the beautiful beaches of Provo just a few hours before your wedding? This is what Darla and Brent did with us last week, Wednesday the 23rd.
Stephanie and Keith - just us!
80, 25, 130, 16, 300 - how many people will attend your wedding? Stephanie and Keith eloped to the Turks and Caicos Islands to celebrate their union in the simple name of love, with no fuss or stress.
They stayed at the beautiful Turks and Caicos Club and, despite the not very favorable weather, had a great time and made the best of their vacation - Keith admitted that he loves the sight, sound, and smell of the rain - not everybody has such a good attitude while facing a grey sky in the Caribbean!

On Monday this week we had a phone call from a couple staying at Point Grace... "Hi - we're getting married - tomorrow! We know it's short notice, but can you take our photographs?" Of course we were happy to help Melanie & James....

This past Wednesday I had the opportunity to do an engagement session with a local couple, their names are Elery and Owenta and they are getting married next month here in Providenciales. It was great to see how much fun they were having during the photo session.

Emotions, tears and laughs
In May 2006 I received the first contact request from Kelly - from the first few lines of her e-mail I knew her wedding was going to be really unique and emotional. The confirmation arrived when I met on island the sweet bride and her fiance, Michael - every single picture of the album I showed them provoked a smile, a tear, a laugh or a breath taken - what a pleasure!

It was a busy week for us last week with several weddings, but one of the most enjoyable to shoot (for me at least) was Aimée and Drew's wedding at The Palms on Sunday. They'd decided on a private ceremony for just the two of them, down on the beach just before sunset, with Pastor Colbey officiating.

Following on from the post below about George and Jenn's wedding here in the Turks & Caicos Islands, its now also the third time we have helped Matt and Adriana with photography.
Ever heard the expression "Third time is a charm"?
Before anyone jumps to any conclusions, we are not talking about a third marriage for a bride or a groom!! In fact the wedding we helped with on the beach in front of Grace Bay Club, Turks & Caicos Islands, was the third couple we have helped from a group of friends that first came down for a wedding over four years ago. Shania and Jason were married four years ago at Ocean Point Villas, TCI and now have a baby boy. Matt and Adriana were married in May 2004 also on Grace Bay Beach and have a baby girl and last weekend George and Jenn had everyone come back down for their wedding.
So we were really delighted to be able to help with this wedding - it was almost like a reunion for us too!

It's a long way from California to Turks & Caicos, but José and Annette made the trip to Providenciales to take a well-deserved break with a romantic getaway at Turks & Caicos Club, which includes one of our sunset photo sessions.

This weekend I really had to "pinch myself" as I helped Kristi and Andrew with their wedding. It was on a "picture perfect" day; the couple themselves were a delight to be around - very easy going, relaxed and had a wonderful group of friends and family come down to the Turks & Caicos for the wedding weekend.
